Fire brigade crews from Clonmel and Cahir were involved in tackling a gorse fire in the Glenary area of the Comeragh Mountains yesterday (Tuesday).
Four fire brigade crews from Cashel, Thurles, Roscrea and Templemore also battled a large gorse fire near Littleton on Monday that forced the closure of the Glengoole to Littleton Road.
Co. Tipperary Fire Service's Facebook page reported that a third of its service was involved in getting this gorse fire under control. In all 28 fire fighters were involved in the operation.
Meanwhile, an Irish Air Corps helicopter assisted Tipperary Fire Service personnel in fighting a gorse fire in the Comeragh Mountains on the weekend on July 2.
Tipperary Fire Service has appealed to the public to take precautions to prevent gorse and grass fires during the heatwave.
Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer Ray O'Leary said vegetation was "tinder dry" and the slightest spark will set it off at the moment.
