Nenagh Courthouse

A 62-year-old Tipperary man was remanded on continuing bail by Judge Elizabeth MacGrath at Nenagh Court on charges under the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act 1998.

Detective Garda Kieran Keane told the court that he had arrested the man on Friday, September 7, 2018, and charged him with the offences.

The accused made no reply after caution and the State had no objection to bail, with conditions, he said.

The man faces charges of having 1,208 images of child pornography on a device at a house in Tipperary on November 13, 2017. He is also charged with having 59 videos of child pornography on the same device at the same house on the same date.

The man also faces a charge of having 90 videos of child pornography on a different device on the same date at and the same location.

He was granted bail in his own bond of €500 to appear at Tipperary Court on October 3 for the book of evidence to be served.

The court granted bail on condition that the man signed on at a named Garda station, that he have no access to the internet either in his home or in any other building, he is not to have any device capable of accessing the internet and the Gardai were granted permission to doorstep him and to examine his home for such devices.
