A Nenagh man stole a sum of cash left behind by a woman at an ATM machine in the centre of the town, Nenagh Court was told.
The court heard that the injured party was checking her account balance at the AIB ATM on Kickham Street, Nenagh, at around 1pm on November 24 last.
She inadvertently withdrew €120 and left without taking the cash.
Jody Doran, 31, of Barr an Chnoic, Nenagh, had been standing behind her at the time.
When the woman realised that the money was missing from her account, she reported the matter to Nenagh Garda station.
Detective Garda Paudie O'Leary investigated and observed Mr Doran on CCTV footage of the scene.
Mr Doran had left the ATM without carrying out a transaction.
Garda O'Leary interviewed the defendant, who admitted to taking the cash.
He said he spent the €120 on Christmas shopping.
The money was later paid to the gardaí.
The court was told that Mr Doran had four previous convictions for theft.
Judge Elizabeth MacGrath noted that the injured party was reimbursed but said a Victim Personal Statement was required. She adjourned the case until October 12th.
