What a day of music as huge crowds turn out for Clonmel Band Spectacular!

The Garda Band were popular visitors to Clonmel.

Clonmel was alive to the sound of music today that thrilled the large crowds that turned out to watch and listen.

For the first time they ever played together, Banna Chluain Meala, Diarmuid O'Hurley Pipe Band, the Artane Band and the Garda Band joined forces for a parade through the town and then a marvellous recital in Kickham Barracks.

Large crowds lined the streets and then in the barracks for a remarkable afternoon of entertainment.

Organised by Clonmel Rotary, it was one of the high points of the club's 50th anniversary celebrations.

The wonderful Clonmel Concert Band entertained the early arrivals in the barracks with a fine selection before the four bands paraded in.

Each then gave a recital before joining forces with the Concert Band  for an incredible finale when, under the baton of the Danny Carrol, they brought the curtain down on a fantastic event.

Rotary president Joe O'Sullivan said they were honoured to have the Artane and Garda bands travel from Dublin for the event, the O'Hurley Pipe band making their way from Cashel, to join the pride of Clonmel, Banna Chluain Meala, for the special occasion.

He described the event as a thank you to the people of Clonmel who have always been so supportive of club activities and fundraisers in the town.

MC, as well as a member of Clonmel Concert Band, was local man and Lyric FM presenter Niall Carroll.
