Tipperary Town's Canon Hayes Recreation Centre and Newcastle Community Hall have received a LEADER funding boost of more than €170,000.
The Canon Hayes Centre has been granted €112,500 to upgrade its all-weather pitch while Newcastle Community Hall is to receive a grant of €59,204, according to Tipperary Fine Gael general election candidate Mary Newman-Julian.
This latest round of Leader funding was announced today and will be granted by South Tipperary Development Company.
Ms Newman-Julian has welcomed the grant aid for the Canon Hayes Centre.
"This is great news for Tipperary Town and the local community. Canon Hayes Recreation Centre is a valuable amenity in the town and investment is required to ensure the Centre is viable and profitable into the future."
"The estimated full cost of the new all-weather pitch in Canon Hayes Centre is €170,000 so this grant aid from LEADER will cover 66% of the overall cost of the project."
LEADER has allocated a total of €180,241 to Co Tipperary projects in this round of funding. More than €8,500 worth of the funding will go towards funding feasibility studies in Nenagh, according to Ms Newman-Julian.
