Two jeeps, a trailer and gates were among the property stolen from farm properties in the Kilsheelan and Ballymacarbry areas yesterday (Tuesday).
The spate of thefts has prompted the gardai to issue a warning to farmers to be extra vigilant of security around their properties and to report any suspicious activity they see in their communities.
A blue Mitsubishi Pajero jeep, 8X4 Dooley jeep trailer, a number of milk churns and tools were stolen in an early morning raid on a farmyard at Poulavone, Kilsheelan.
The break-in to the farmyard, situated on the Clonmel to Rathgormack Mountain Road about three miles from Kilsheelan, was reported to gardai at 6am shortly after the farmer spotted suspicious activity .
A Tramore Garda Station spokesman said they received a report of a burglary at a second farm at Glendaloughin, Ballymacarbry at 11.30am yesterday. A jeep, four farm gates and some tools was reported stolen by the owner.
Meanwhile, a 10ft farm gate was reported stolen from another property at Reanadampaun, Ballymacarbry at 6pm yesterday.
The jeeps stolen in the two burglaries were only driven their owners around their farms and were not used for driving on the road.
Gardai believe the same criminals were responsible for all three incidents.
A Tramore Garda Station spokesman appealed to anyone who witnessed suspicious vehicles or activity in the vicinity of these three farms yesterday or has information that may assist their investigation to contact Tramore Garda Station at (051) 391620 or Kilmacthomas Garda Station at (051) 294124.
He also urged members of the public who come across any property for sale they suspect was stolen from these farms to contact the Gardai.
