Dean Maxwell Nursing Home: will continue with respite and day services
The proposed plan for the Dean Maxwell Community Nursing Unit is to retain respite and day services on the site, Cllr John Carroll has been told by the HSE.
Cllr Carroll put a number of questions in relation to the Roscrea facility to the HSE at the November meeting of the Regional Health Forum West and received a written reply which stated that following a meeting at Government Buildings, HSE Mid-West Community Healthcare is finalising an initial assessment of options for older persons’ services in the North Tipperary area.
“The proposed plan for the Dean Maxwell Community Nursing Unit is to retain respite and day services on the site,” he was told in a written reply by Maria Bridgeman, chief officer, HSE Mid-West Community Healthcare.
As agreed at the meeting the service is reviewing all options for the Dean Maxwell Unit, the progression of the new older persons build in Nenagh, as well as the overall requirements for the older person services in the region. HSE Mid-West Community Healthcare is committed to delivering the best older person services to the people of north Tipperary and it is expected that an initial options paper will be presented before the end of quarter four 2022, she said.
Cllr Carroll was also told that the community proposal, drawings and concepts had been included in the initial assessment of options. Cllr Carroll pointed out that this approach was supported by all of Tipperary’s Oireachtas members.
