Simon Harris, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science
Higher Education Minister Simon Harris told the Tipperarylive he is open to proposals for college transport for Thurles.
Speaking at the TUS campus in Thurles, the Minister said he realises public transport is important for sustainability and access to educational institutions.
He said if there are proposals, he would be happy to work with his government colleagues to look at them.
“I am conscious of the size of Tipperary. It is a big county and also from an environmental point of view. There’s no point in telling people not to drive if there aren’t actually viable ways of getting there. So I’m very happy to receive any ideas or proposals, be it from the county council or the university,” said the Minister.
He said the council has regular engagement with the NTA, so it may be best if proposals come from them.
