In response to John Littleton’s article some time ago concerning the Eucharist. Does John realise Jesus was still with his disciples when he said these words, “This is my Body, the Bread, this is my Blood, the cup”. He was speaking ‘figuratively’, do this in memory of me. A memorial, nothing more. It’s still bread and wine.
It’s hard to believe that John thinks he can command the God of heaven to come down from his “Heavenly Throne” at his beck and call. The sacrifice on Calvary was a one-off, never to be repeated, but to celebrate the Lord’s table (Last Supper) as a memorial.
Christians (biblical) have a right to clearly state the Lord’s teaching from his word, the biblical way, on the contrary, Christians 100% believe that the sacrifice on Calvary is sufficient for salvation. And yes, Christ’s one-off sacrifice is repeated over and over again at the Mass, hence the sacrifice of the Mass.
Follow God’s word, the Bible, not man-made rules and books. The spiritual food for our souls is God’s word. As the Book of Revelation says; Chapter 22 V19, “If any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the Book of Life”.
