CAUTION: Home owners warned to be vigilant as raft of heating oil burglaries hits Tipp

Gardai in Tipperary Town are appealing to the public to be vigilant following a number of thefts of home heating oil in the past number of days.

Officials have advised householders to check the oil levels in their tanks regularly and where possible, arrange smaller deliveries.

They have also advised that security perimeter lighting should be increased around homes, and shrubs or fencing erected to screen the view of any tanks from the road.

If anyone notices any suspicious vehicles in their estate or in the vicinity of their land, gardai have asked that people take note of registration plates and contact their local Garda Station as soon as possible.

Tipperary Town Garda Station can be contacted on 062-80670 or alternatively any information can be given to the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111.
