Dundrum ACs U11 Girls at the County Juvenile Indoor Track and Field Championships in Nenagh.
COUNTY JUVENILE INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
The County Juvenile Indoor Track and Field Championships were held in Nenagh on Sunday March 5. We had 57 juveniles competing, with 19 individual medals and four sets of relay medals won.
We had gold medals with Chloe O’Neill in the Girls U15 60m, Oisin Burke in the Boys U10 B final, Albert Maher in the Boys U13 600m and Ruby Maher in the Girls U16 Long Jump.
We had silver medals with Daithí Comerford in the Boys U9 A final, Ben Fitzpatrick in the Boys U10 B final, Rocco Julian in the Boys U13 60m hurdles and Jesse Julian in the Boys U12 Long Jump.
We had bronze medals with Laura Roche in the Girls U12 60m, Sean O’Neill in the Boys U12 60m, Shona Ryan in the Girls U10 60m, Niall Quirke in the Boys U13 600m, Taylor O’Toole in the Girls U13 600m, Jesse Julian in the Boys U12 600m, Robbie O’Neill in the Boys U9 300m, Chloe O’Neill in the Girls U13 200m, Shona Ryan in the Girls U10 Long Jump, Julie Morrissey in the Girls U11 Long Jump, Sean O’Neill in the Boys U12 Long Jump and Chloe O’Neill in the Girls U15 Long Jump.
The Girls U15 relay team of Chloe O’Neill, Anna Ryan, Anna Butler and Therese Ryan won bronze.
The Boys U10 relay team of Alexey Nesteruk, Harry Julian, Eoghan Quirke and Oisin Burke won bronze.
The Boys U12 relay team of Sean O’Neill, Jesse Julian, Aaron Kelly and Ciaran Martin won bronze. The Boys U13 relay team of Albert Maher, Odhran Ryan, Niall Quirke and Rocco Julian won silver.
Well done to our other juveniles who competed and were outside of the medals.
These included Eoghan O’Neill, Darragh Comerford, Olivia O’Brien and Leah Shanahan in the U10. Brian Quirke, Conor Breen, Bella Curling, Isobel Hartnett, Emma O’Brien, Grace Butler, Ellen Maher, Farran Ryan, Ella Gayson and Claire Morrissey in the U11. Conor Dooley, Micheal Ryan, Katelyn Shanahan, Lauren Lonergan, Aine O’Neill, Niamh McCarthy and Louise Heney in the U12. CJ Kenmuir, Darragh Kelly, Micheal Farrell, Ellisse Kelly, Grace Crosse, Molly Butler and Emma Morrissey in the U13. Belle Kelly, Kate Dooley and Clodagh Ryan in the U14. Beibhinn Buckley in the U15.
SILVER FOR MORRISSEY AND BRONZE FOR FOGARTY
The County Intermediate Road Championships were held in Ballyneale on Sunday, February 12. We had 12 athletes competing.
The women’s race was over 4k. Catherine Fogarty had a superb race to fight for her bronze medal in 16:10. This was Catherine’s first individual championship medal. Next we had 12th Mairead Julian 17:34 and 13th Emily Leahy 17:46. The team also won bronze.
The men’s race was over 8k.
Eamonn Morrissey continued his great form and after winning silver recently in the Novice he also won silver in the Intermediate in 26:36.
He was followed by 11th Gerry O’Neill 30:15, 13th Darren Allison 30:27 and 20th Paudie Coen 31:17. These four won silver in the team event. Next, we had 28th John Ryan 32:49, 32nd Richard Bresnen 33:15, 35th Tommy Byrnes 34:05, 39th Shane White 36:27 and 42nd Liam Butler 37:32. It was a debut to this championship race for most of the athletes including Gerry, Darren, John, Richard and Shane.
TIPPERARY STAR AWARDS
The athletics Tipperary Star Awards was held on Saturday, March 11 in the Horse and Jockey Hotel. Dymphna Ryan won the Master Women's award for the following achievements: National Masters O40 Cross Country bronze medal at the National Masters Cross Country Championships. Home Countries Master International Cross Country event Bronze medal and also had the honour of leading the team to the Silver medals. Munster Senior Road title.
Dymphna is also a great supporter of the County Championships winning the County Senior Cross Country title last December as well as the County Senior 5k road earlier in the year.
She ran trials and was selected to represent Ireland in the home countries masters cross country as she won the trial for the O40 women.
She competed for Ireland in Santry and finished 3rd overall in the O40 age group winning the bronze individual medal and leading the Irish
O40 team to silver medals.
Huge well done to Dymphna we are very proud of her achievements and thankful for all she does with the club.
JUVENILE TRAINING
Juvenile training is held every Tuesday and Friday at 7pm at the track at Dundrum Community Centre. Children have to turn 9 years old by the end of this year to take part.
