Almost four years since the Post Office conversion at Cahir, business has increased year on year, so much so that a third computer was installed at the public service counter area in November 2009. This position has streamlined efficiency and customer service especially on busier social welfare payment days.
Cahir Post Office now offers a no frills pay as you go mobile phone service, a variety of the very popular gift cards, prize bonds with a money back guarantee and tax free interest on Government savings scheme. Over 90% of household bills can be paid instantly at the post office counter and people find the easy pay weekly or monthly system as a great option in the present financial climate. Garda traffic fines and Gun Licences are the latest additions to the billpay service.
Local Cllr Seanie Lonergan says: "Apart from the obvious mail collections and delivery maintaining our post office is now more essential than ever before and I can only encourage everyone to use and support this great local service.
"People power retained the Cahir Post Office in its present location and it is imperative to continue to support this important facility."
The councillor thanked Henry Reidy and his staff, both counter and outdoor, for their excellent service.
