The final phase of the Clonmel Flood Relief Scheme is underway.
Joe Kenny Plant Hire from Ballinasloe, Galway has been appointed to complete works in the Convent Bridge area of the town.
Clonmel and Cahir district engineer Jonathan Cooney told the inaugural monthly meeting that any minor issues that arose during last February’s heavy rainfall will also be rectified.
“The OPW found a number of snags that need to be rectified and these will be incorporated into this contract,” he said.
Works to be completed include the construction of embankments, flood walls and drainage works at a number of properties in the Convent Road area. The provision of fencing, cattle crush, flap valves, road barriers and flood warning signs at various locations in Clonmel town is also on the list.
