Killenaule bottle bank blighted by dumping

Tipperary County Council plans installing a CCTV camera at the bottle bank in Killenaule because of illegal dumping at the site.

Tipperary County Council plans installing a CCTV camera at the bottle bank in Killenaule because of illegal dumping at the site.

Ruth Hennessy of the Council’s Environment Section, informed Carrick Municipal District Council’s monthly meeting of the action it is considering to prevent dumping at the site. She was responding to Cllr Imelda Goldsboro, who complained that the Killenaule bottle bank was an “eyesore” due to the appalling dumping of household rubbish.

Cllr Goldsboro tabled a motion at the meeting calling on the Council to enhance the areas around bottle banks. Council Administrator Martin Nolan said the Council made every effort to maintain these sites and identify those responsible for littering. He said funds had not been provided in the 2015 Budget for works on new sites or improvements to existing sites, apart from routine maintenance.
