Thurles is central for all the hurling teams competing for finals
A bumper summer of fixtures at FBD Semple Stadium is set to continue with the news today that the venue will host another double header that is expected to be another sell out fixture, this time on June 4th.
This time it will be the All-Ireland minor hurling final and the All-Ireland Under 20 hurling final. The latter will feature Cork and Offaly at 3pm and the minor final will be played earlier that day at 1pm.
The pairing for that game isn't known yet as the Semi-finals will take place (also in Thurles) this Saturday afternoon. In those matches, Clare will play Kilkenny in the first game at 1pm and that will be followed by Cork and Galway at 3pm.
The pitch has held up well to the constant games on the surface this spring and early summer. There has been a swarth of fixtures including national league games featuring the Tipp senior hurlers and footballers. As the home venue for Tipperary teams the venue has seen the county players line out on the famed so with teams playing minor football, minor hurling, Under 20 hurling, Under 20 football among other fixtures.
The minor Semi-finals this weekend will draw a huge crowd while Sunday's double header (Tipp v Limerick in hurling and Tipp v Down in football) is a sellout. The double header on the Bank Holiday weekend will also bring massive revenue to the town and surrounding hinterland.
