Mouthwatering clashes galore in round one of the Tipperary hurling championship!

Tipperary SHC: Clonoulty-Rossmore kept the West flag flying thanks to four-point win over Kiladangan

All eyes on the ball for the Tipperary club championship

The club season has become the jewel in the crown for many over the past three years. The split season has allowed the club game to flourish and now once more the first round of the championship is on the horizon.

This year's first round ties has thrown up some mouthwatering fixtures. The pick of them is perennial contenders Thurles Sarsfields against Kiladangan along with the clash of the 2020 All-Ireland club finalists, Borris Ileigh, who are pitched against 2018 Dan Breen cup winners Clonoulty Rossmore.

Sarsfields and Kiladangan in particular played out some memorable games in the championship in recent seasons, and both sides will meet head on in the first game to try and get the win to increase their chances of getting out of their group.

The midfield battleground will be eagerly contested with two of the best, Willie Connors for Kiladangan and Billy McCarthy from Sarsfields, back in full health after serious injury's in recent seasons.

Holycross will focus on the first game against Upperchurch and after running the black and amber team close last year, will relish the opportunity to take on their neighbours with Bryan O'Mara available for selection this year.

Toomevara face the reigning county champions Kilruane MacDonaghs and the all north tussle is sure to be decided either way in the last five minutes, but the champions will be favoured to progress with Craig Morgan edging closer to a comeback by the day.

In the Premier Intermediate championship the clash of Lorrha and Gortnahoe-Glengoole wil draw the crowds while Cashel and Moyne will be an intriguing clash of two ambitious sides.
