Two men arrested in connection with inflicting up to 40 stab wounds on a man near the Gashouse Bridge in Clonmel were released from custody without charge last week.
Gardai investigating the serious crime that occurred in the car park of an apartment complex near the bridge around 5am on Saturday, April 23 are now preparing a file on the case for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The two suspects, aged in their 20s from the Clonmel area, were arrested on Tuesday morning, April 26, in connection with the serious stabbing under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and questioned by gardai.
They were released from custody later that day.
The victim of the stabbing sustained serious but not life threatening injuries in the frenzied attack carried out by a number of men wearing balaclavas.
