Fianna Fail need to start looking now for candidates for the local elections in 2014 and the next general election in five years time, party leader Miceal Martin told members in South Tipp last week.

And Mr Martin is insisting on a gender and age balance - he wants women candidates and people under thirty.

Fianna Fail has been left without any Dail or Seanad representation in South Tipperary for the first time in the history of the state and he told a party meeting in Cahir on Thursday night that now is the time to start putting that right.

In an interview with The Nationalist editor Michael Heverin, he explained how the party here should go about that. See Page 3.
