A fun cross country ride ran by the Premier Harriers recently from the Lady Gregory Pub was a huge success with all taking part enjoying a great days fun and more importantly raising €7,000 for the Fiona Power Fund.
This fund was set up to help a young nurse from Bansha go to America to receive treatment for cancer.
The ride involved crossing the River Suir at Ballydrehid - something that had not been done in recent memory and 92 horses and ponies crossed in glorious sunshine.
Cahir River Rescue were on stanby but thankfully the crossing was trouble free and was one of the days highlights for the riders. The mounted field made their way cross-country to Maher’s Cross Country Course in Kedrah and eventually all made their way back to the Lady Gregory where refreshments were enjoyed.
The organisers would like to express their gratitude to the landowners over whose farms the ride crossed as well as the Order of Malta, Cahir River Rescue and the Maher Family.
