Waterloo and Locklin rock Thurles as the Cathedral Re-Roofing Project gets a big boost

Olive and Patrick Collins enjoyed the show at the Premier hall

On Saturday 10th June hundreds of ABBA fans packed into the Premier Ballroom to hear four piece band “Waterloo” perform the hits of ABBA.

Local award winning band “Locklin” got proceedings underway and really entertained the crowd. This night was in aid of the Cathedral re-roofing project.

Tommy Barrett Chairman of the Moyne Road Residents Association spoke to the Tipperary Star about this event: “On behalf of our hard working committee I wish to thank all those who helped to make this such a successful event. It was a privilege for us to host this event to raise much needed funds for the reroofing of the Cathedral.

“While the main aim of this event was to raise much needed funds, we also wanted to give people a good night out. It was fantastic to see the dance floor full all night with everybody enjoying the ABBA classics. It was great to see people of all ages having a good time and enjoying the music.

“We also wanted to highlight the importance of the Premier Hall and to promote it as a venue for events. The Premier Hall has so many happy memories for many local people and while it needs investment, I feel it is essential that it remains a facility that can be enjoyed by the people of Thurles and beyond.”

The organisers would like to acknowledge the following who contributed spot prizes on the night: The Cashel Palace Hotel, Hickey’s Pharmacy, Premier Meats, Thurles Gaels (Two Lark in the park tickets) and Cllr Michael Lowry who contributed two Cut Loose Festival Tickets.

Tickets were available in local outlets and this facility was a great help to us and the ticket sellers include: Ryan’s Daughter Restaurant and Thurles Parish Centre. We also appreciate the support of CM Signs for providing the printing for this event.

The Moyne Road Residents Association wish to acknowledge the support of the Tipperary Star, Tipp Fm and Tipperary Mid West Radio in advertising this event. The staff of the Premier Hall were a great help and pulled out all the stops to ensure the night was a success. A presentation of the proceeds raised will be made to Thurles Pastoral Parish Council in the coming weeks.
