After becoming the most successful trainer in the festival’s history with his two triumphs yesterday, Tipperary trainer Aidan O’Brien was fancied to add to his list of winners at Royal Ascot today but a surprise 10/1 shot finished first in the Prince of Wales's Stakes to the surprise of many.
Luxembourg was tipped for victory in big race this afternoon, going to post at 2/1, but Mostahdaf was the horse that burst clear of the field to shine out from the rest as an elite performer over ten furlongs.
The son of Frankel proved himself on the main stage and outshone the fancied Luxembourg and Adayar in the 1m 2f race much to the delight of joint-trainer John Gosden.
Mostahdaf finished at 10/1 with Luxembourg in second at 2/1 and Adayar coming home in third at 100/30.
