A man in his mid 50s died in a tragic accident that occurred last week when he was walking horses with another man on a road in the Mullinahone area.

55 year-old Michael Keating from Ballycullen, Mullinahone, died in a freak accident at Kylatlea at lunchtime last Thursday, which is understood to have happened when one of three horses he was walking with bolted.

The late Mr. Keating kept some horses at Kylatlea, which is approximately two miles from his home.

He lived with his mother Peggy and brothers Ned, Jimmy and Paddy at Ballycullen.

The family has lived in the area for generations and there was a large attendance at the funeral ceremonies, as local people paid tribute to a popular local man.

Michael Keating’s remains were removed from Brett’s Funeral Home to St Michael’s Church, Mullinahone on Saturday evening. Requiem Mass was celebrated on Sunday morning, followed by burial in Ichikerin Cemetery, Mullinahone.
