Tipperary jockey Rachael Blackmore collects another award

Tipperary racing superstar Rachael Blackmore was awarded an honorary MBE for services to sport in Britain for her extraordinary achievements within the sport.

The achievement rightly rewards her contribution to the sport where she has played a key role in breaking down barriers simply by being the best she can be.

The 33-year-old has been on a remarkable journey over the past decade. Since she rode her first winner in 2011 she went from strength to strength.

In 2017 she won the conditional riders’ title and then in 2019 had a first Cheltenham Festival victory coming on A Plus Tard.

By 2021 she was hitting another stratosphere with victory in the first of two Champion Hurdles on Honeysuckle and being crowned leading rider at Cheltenham with six winners and then the Grand National aboard Minella Times.

Again the star went higher in 2022 when she added the famous Gold Cup win on A Plus Tard.

The Killenaule jockey tries to keep her feet on the ground which adds to her appeal in the county and beyond.

Honorary MBEs across the water recognise those from other countries that excel in their field in Britain.

Others go recieve the honour include Italian jockey Frankie Dettori who was recognised in 2001.
