This blue and white kayak was stolen from the river bank in Cahir on Monday after its owner paddled it down the River Suir from Golden.
Roy Johnston, whose daughter Maeve owns the stolen kayak, said it was taken from the green area by the slipway beside Cahir Community Hall between 3pm and 3.45pm on Monday.
He said he and Maeve kayaked from Golden to Cahir that day and when they had finished their journey they placed the two kayaks in a secluded spot and got a lift back to Golden to collect their car. When they returned about 40 minutes later to load up the kayaks and bring them, Maeve’s was gone.
“It would have taken two people to carry it any distance on foot or it would have to be taken in a car with a roof rack,” he said.
Gardai at Cahir Garda Station are investigating the crime and have requested anyone who saw the kayak being taken from this location on Monday afternoon to contact the station at (052) 7441222.
