I am researching my family history and some of my ancestors lived in Chapel Lane, Fethard.
I have been told that two of my great uncles (surname Kennedy who lived in Chapel Lane) were members of the IRA and sometime during World War I they were shot and killed by the Black and Tans and their bodies were hung from a bridge in Fethard for several days as a warning to others. The bridge has a plaque depicting this. I wonder if anyone has any information or photos of this bridge? I’m sorry I don’t have more information. The only other information I have is that their sister Josephine Kennedy lived in Chapel Lane,, until her death in approximately 1971.
Any information at all would be most helpful. .
