Labour Senator Denis Landy has advised people across the country to prepare for further volatile weather conditions by logging on to www.bewinterready.ie, calling the information line 1890 252736, or by consulting Aertel page 592.
The Carrick-on-Suir based Labour senator welcomed the information campaign as a worthwhile collaborative initiative between the Department of Justice, Equality and Defence, and the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government.
“Severe weather challenges all of us. The ‘Be Winter Ready’ campaign provides practical advice on how to prepare for the wide variety of issues people may face due to adverse weather conditions. It is important that people are aware of potential threats and the areas where assistance is available to them.
“I am urging communities to pull together and be mindful of elderly and isolated members in particular.
“Activities that are generally taken for granted can become hazardous in these conditions; we must all prepare accordingly to ensure that 2014 kicks off on a successful footing as the country continues its path along the road to recovery.”
