Moyne AC sprinter Katie Bergin goes from strength to strength and once more she has produced the goods with a top class performance on the national stage.
Katie is the the first athlete from her club to be invited to take part in Morton Games on Friday night last in Dublin and the Tipperary starlet Katie was ranked eight on the start line.
Running in lane one, she ran an incredible first bend to overtake three athletes that were on her outside. She pushed on hard in the race and finished in fifth position by the line in a time of 24.49s running into a -2.7m/s wind.
On Sunday Katie returned to the Morton Stadium, Santry for the AI Games and again produced two stunning performances in the 100m, stubbornly stuck on 12.0s all the season, she has finally broken and cleared that barrier ran 11.86s in Series 1 (+4.4m/s wind).
She then followed that up with 11.80s (+2.2m/S) in Series 2 in the afternoon, again the first athlete from Moyne athletic club to run under 12.0s for the 100m.
Next stop for Katie is the national seniors in two weeks time and then the league final where the Tipperary womens team are placed in the top three going into the final. The stages just keep getting bigger for Katie Bergin.
