All the quiz boffins were out, last week, for the annual Tidy Towns table quiz in Cahir!
On a night of challenging fun the group took time to show their support for local man Shaun Fogarty as they presented a cheque for €5,200 to his parents.
The annual quiz in the Shamrock Lounge on Friday, March 7. Almost 30 tables competed and all were entertained by an assortment of questions put to the audience by Tidy Town’s Keith Fahey, of Tipp Fm afternoon show. Another big hit on the night was the Halftime Teaser which was one round of pictures which were taken around Cahir and which participants had to name to test their local knowledge. These were put together by our new PRO and camera enthusiast, Carmel Casey.
As always, Hughie, Margaret and staff must be thanked for their lovely food and hospitality on the night. This all set the scene for the presentation of over €5,200 to the Fogarty Family after the recent Cahir Tidy Towns/Duneske Leisure Centre Operation Transformation in aid of the Shaun Fogarty Appeal. The quiz winners on the night were Paul Lonergan’s team, second place went to Kevin Walshe’s team and third place were Charlie O’Neill’s team.
Moving on to the work on the ground, Tidy Towns would like to thank Kennagh for his work in Cahir Abbey and Joe for the new flower beds around the town. We have filled them and will have them ready for planting for the new season. Thanks to the TÚS scheme for providing two very talented craftsmen to the Tidy Towns. Seamus has also got the chance to finish the painting on Barrack Street and we will try get on top of the litter after the recent poor weather. So, a busy time ahead and we are still walking on Tuesday and Thursdays at 7.30pm from Duneske as part of a Meet & Train Group and again on Saturday morning at 10am.
