Darren Ryan loses seat but wins Red Cross election

Independent Darren Ryan was a shock loser in the Clonmel-Cahir area but won a different election on Saturday.

Independent Darren Ryan was a shock loser in the Clonmel-Cahir area but won a different election on Saturday.

“I was elected to the board of Irish Red Cross after 22 years as a member and the three year term will keep me busy. I love community work”.

“However I am disappointed to lose my council seat but I have enjoyed my ten years. I am honoured and privileged to have served the people of Clonmel. I felt my vote would have been better and it’s very hard to read what went wrong but that’s democracy and the people have spoken. There may have been too many independents on the ticket in Clonmel. I had contemplated at Christmas whether I would run but now the people have decided for me. Now it’s time to move on to the next chapter of my life and have more time with my family.
