An old native of Fethard, Aggie Barrett, died on August 1, 2014, at the ripe old age of 91. Aggie was a kind, warm-hearted, generous person committed to her local community.
A life-long member of the ICA and a talented craftswoman, she was also hugely involved in the Fethard Meals on Wheels.
The service was then run entirely on a voluntary basis and for many years, Aggie was solely in charge of purchasing for the meals, opening the hall and having everything ready for the volunteers coming in to prepare and cook the meals. She was always available to stand-in when someone was absent and indeed, often called on her beloved Tom to deliver the said meals when the driver was absent. She did absolutely trojan work for the community in this capacity in her own quiet gentle way.
Agnes ‘Aggie’, was wife of the late Tom Barrett, Main Street, mother of the late Michael, grandmother of the late Shane Carroll, and sadly missed by her sons and daughters, Pat, Thomas, Richard, Carol Anne, Siobhán and Kevin, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace. Interment took place in Calvary Cemetery.
