Cahir Tidy Towns National Spring Clean Day was, Wednesday, April 24.

The group are asking every estate to get out and support this venture like last year when over 120 people got involved. Bags for litter can be collected at the Hut in Market Yard on the evening from 6.45pm. The full bags will be collected on Thursday morning. All they ask is that people in their own area give one hour to this cause. There will be a photographer in town on the evening so it would be nice to have it well supported.

Anyone wishing to organise it on a different day should contact 086-3609110 to make arrangements.

Tidy Towns will be introducing some Pooper Scooper Glove dispensers in the town on a pilot scheme and they are thankful to the first four to say they would part sponsor these, they are: Cummins Insurance, Skelly’s Sweet Emporium, Long Island Gaels GAA (Richie O’Connor) and Best Friends World. The latter will give a discount on Pooper Scoopers to anyone mentioning Cahir Pooper Project.

The Memorial Garden spaces are filling fast and with a month left to go they are sure to sell out. These can also be booked on 0863609110 and are open to anyone who wishes to have a loved one remembered in the garden.

Tidy Towns have erected a hand rail on the steps and will be unveiling a special plaque to Gussy Morrissey on the day.

A shrub and plaque for the garden is €20 and if anyone wants to get involved, Tidy Towns will start planting at 2pm on Sunday, May 19, with the official opening and blessing at 3pm.

A date to remember - the closing date for the National Tidy Towns Competition is Friday, May 24, and anyone wishing to paint etc. could have their area included in the entry.
