After 12 years, the NCBI Charity Shop has moved to a more roomy and pleasant location at 31 The Square.
Manager Eileen Farrell is delighted with the move. The shop opened its doors last week after a few days hard work, moving the fittings and stock as well as clearing out the old premises. When everyone has had time to get settled in, there will be a coffee morning and officialy opening.
There are 70 NCBI Charity Shops nationwide (previously Mrs Quin’s) and they raise funds for the National Council for the Blind of Ireland. Ita Sabrina Coveney helps Eileen managing the shop and there are six volunteers, five who have been with us right from the start. More will be needed, now that there is much more space. A recent Prime Time showing criminals stealing from charity clothing banks frightened some people off using them. If in doubt take your donations to a charity shop. What cannot be sold will be responsibly recycled, nothing leaves the country.
