District Mayor Martin Lonergan invites representatives of all local community, voluntary, civic and business organisations to attend an open public meeting at the Town Hall, Clonmel at 8pm next Monday night, January 19 to plan and prepare for the town’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Meanwhile, Independent TD Mattie McGrath has described the lack of decisive funding commitments for this year’s parade as further evidence of how the town is being marginalised at county level.
Deputy McGrath was speaking as the viability of staging the parade was called into question following the decision of the Cumann Tobar Naomh Padraig to withdraw from organising the event following its repeated attempts to secure written financial support from Tipperary County Council.
