There were dramatic scenes in the centre of Clonmel on Sunday evening when fire fighters using a hyrdaulic lift brought an ill man from the third storey of a building to a waiting ambulance.
Two fire brigade units and two ambulances attended the scene of the medical emergency at Emmet Street around 4.45pm on Sunday.
When the HSE ambulance crew were unable to bring the man safely down the stairs they called in the assistance of the fire service, which used a hydraulic lift to reach the top storey window of the building that houses a Polish sunbed business on the ground floor.
A large crowd of passersby gathered to watch as the fire fighters carried the sick man out through the window and brought him safely down to the ambulance.
