A pall of gloom has been cast over the town of Clonmel this week, as the community mourns the death of Christopher Cronin, a young man from Old Bridge who died this week.
Chris, who was 24, was a very popular young man in the town, which was seen in the response of his friends as they rallied around his family in recent days.
The son of Jerry, who works for Clonmel Borough Council, and his wife Philly, Chris is also survived by his two brothers Jerry and Tommy, and extended family.
The Cronin family live in Roaring Springs, Old Bridge. Members of the community have been stunned by the death.
Leading the tributes to Chris, Mayor Darren Ryan said that as mayor he wanted to extend sympathy to the Cronin family on behalf of all the people of Clonmel. Chris’s death, he said, was a tragic incident that has affected the whole town. “The thoughts and prayers of the people of Clonmel are with the family,” he said.
Old Bridge is a very close knit community, a community that has great spirit, the mayor said, and it will rally around the Cronin family at this time.
Funeral arrangements were not known at the time of going to press.
