Deputy Seamus Healy has asked the people of Clonmel to turn out in great numbers to salute our serving soldiers as they bid a final farewell to the people of Clonmel and to Kickham Barracks.
The Final Military Parade will take place on Monday next, March 26 at 1pm and will see an end to a long and proud tradition of an Army presence in the town.
Deputy Healy said - “It will give the people of Clonmel, old and young, an opportunity to publicly thank the members of the Defence forces, both past and present for their work on behalf of the town over the years.
“Their tremendous work during flood situations and severe weather conditions providing assistance and transport particularly come to mind. Every good local cause of a chartable and a community nature was always fully supported by the members of the Defence Forces”.
Deputy Healy would also like to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the Army Wives and Partners Committee in the Campaign to prevent the closure of Kickham Barracks.
“This will indeed be the last opportunity for the people of Clonmel to witness the spectacle of a Military Parade through the town so please show your support on the day”, he said
