Our Lady of Mercy Primary School Cahir is taking part in the Active School Flag. They are striving to achieve a physically active and physically aware school community by implementing a series of strategies that are enhancing and promoting physical activity.
Cooperative games take place during lunch break every Thursday. These games encourage participation and enjoyment for all the children.
The school has an active flag committee which includes children, teachers and parents all working together to encourage our school community to become more active.
If you have any skills or training in a sport which would enhance this initiative, the school would be delighted if you would share it
with them.
The school thanks all the people who are involved in helping them to achieve our aims. Parents and members of the football and camogie clubs are sharing their skills and training children in these games. Orienteering skills are also being taught to the children by local volunteers.
The Cahir Bingo committee recently donated E500 to Our Lady of Mercy Primary School and the school would like to thank them most sincerely for their generosity. The school used the money to buy P.E. equipment - soft balls for the junior classes, beanbags, badminton rackets, shuttle cocks, hula hoops and athletic equipment. All the classes are looking forward to using this new equipment and it will help them to achieve their aim to become more physical active.
The school would also like to acknowledge the part sixth class played in helping to buy this equipment as they also donated money towards their purchase. The Student Council held a ‘guess the number of sweets in the jar’ and ‘guess the celebrity’ competition to raise money for the new PE equipment.
So as you can see Cahir community is very active in helping Our Lady of Mercy Primary School in their endeavour to achieve their First Active Flag.
