A group of local ladies who have dedicated many years to fundraising for the Irish Heart Foundation have been honoured by the charity for their work.
At a special ceremony in Cahir House Hotel, last Saturday, a presentation was made to the four stalwart fundraisers who have given almost 70 years of combined service to the Irish Heart Foundation.
Anne Riordan, Regional Manager of The Irish Heart Foundation, travelled to Cahir House Hotel last Saturday night to present special Heart Foundation pins to Eileen Murphy, Mary Quinn, Patricia Kelly and Sheila Walsh in recognition of their continual long years of voluntary service to the Heart Foundation. Eileen has been a voluteer for more than 20 years and Patricia, Mary and Sheila have been involved in fundraising for between 15 and 20 years each.
Anne said that the Heart Foundation really appreciates the help of its volunteers and that their support is invaluable as she presented the pins to the ladies. “They are fantastic, and they have no intention of retiring!†she told The Nationalist.
The special pins presented to the ladies symbolise their active participation with the IHF and the part they have played in the continuation of the services the organisation provides.
Also at the event were some the rest of the group who volunteer on an annual basis to do the church gate collections and other fund raising. They are: Noel Allen, Seanie Lonergan, Micheal Kelly, Liam Naughton and Kevin Brunnick.
Well done to the ladies in their outstanding commitment to raising funds for the Heart Foundation, adn to all those who also help and support this cause.
Anne also met with IHF volunteers in New Inn who have raised over €5,000.
