It was a good return last weekend for Aidan O'Brien as he secured a number of winners starting on Friday evening.
He linked up with Seamie Heffernan as Mountain Bear led home a 1-2 for Ballydoyle in the seven-furlong listed race for two-year-olds at Dundalk on Friday evening last.
Heffernan brought the 100/30 chance from off the pace to head his front-running stable companion Battle Cry inside the final furlong before racing clear to win by a length and three-parts.
There was a number of Tipperary winners across the weekend.
Ben Coen notched up his second winner in as many days as Jack Red Cloud took the seven-furlong maiden for three-year-olds to complete a double on the night for trainer Andy Oliver.
The 9/1 chance made much of the running and had a little in hand as he beat the Ken Condon-trained Local girl by a length and a quarter.
Aidan O'Brien captured the first two races at the Curragh on Saturday and Seamie Heffernan rode the first of his winners.
The pair took the nine-furlong maiden for two-year-olds with Illinois which impressed with a three-length debut success over the Joseph O'Brien-trained Soul Of Spain at odds of 4/1, giving the winning jockey his fourth winner in as many days.
However, Chris Hayes was in the saddle as 20/1 shot Content ended the winning run of Natalia Lupini’s Kitty Rose in the Group 3 Staffordstown Stud Stakes.
She came from last to first to beat Kitty Rose, the 11/10 favourite, by two and a half lengths. Fozzy Stack won the listed fillies and mares’ stakes with the Peter Pillar-owned 9/4 favourite Aussie Girl.
She made all the running under Colin Keane to score by a length and three-parts from William Haggas’ raider and 5/2 chance Pinafore.
