The weather this weekend is set to lead to flooding
Given the high level of rainfall predicted for the coming days the Tipperary football board have taken the decision to cancel this year's Michael Hogan U13 tournament.
"Pushing ahead would be unfair on the host clubs and it is called off now as opposed to on the morning of the event, which was disruptive for all clubs involved in 2022," says football board chair Conor O'Dwyer.
Many pitches across the county are flooded and the wet weather is set to continue into the weekend making many pitches unplayable. The committee will now focus on next years competition says Conor:
"It will be reviewed again in due course for 2024, but given our experience over the last 2 years, an October date is always going to be a challenge.
"The U11 tournament that runs in May/June works really well and the committee will push ahead with that again as normal in 2024- the U13 version will have to be reviewed.
"Thanks to all clubs who entered teams, and thanks again to all host clubs for making their facilities available. Apologies for any difficulties caused."
Eight venues had been selected and over 60 teams had confirmed for the tournament which was due to take place the coming Saturday however, it is now cancelled for this year.
