Clonmel AC's Willie Maunsell making it look easy with his superb 2:19:50 run for 10th place in this year's Dublin City Marathon
Congratulations to William Maunsell from club Clonmel AC on his tremendous run in the Dublin City Marathon.
The club are regularly inspired by Willie when we see his easy graceful running form at the track, or indeed on grass, road and cross country. Willie makes running look easy.
However, there is nothing easy about completing the Dublin Marathon in a time of 2 hours 19 minutes and 50 seconds.
At the seasoned age of 38 years of age, Willie is going from strength to strength. This result has put him in the record books as the 4th fastest Irishman over the distance in the 2023 battle, and also the second fastest in the over 35 category this year.
While Willie's ease of character might let you believe it was all in the footwear he was wearing on the day, we are under no illusions that this was purely accredited to his talent, hard work and the supportive comrades he has around him.
It was a pleasure to watch Willie’s performance on the day around the roads and streets of the capital, and we look forward to seeing what more he no doubt has to offer into the future. There is still a long running career there.
Congrats once again Willie, from all of us at Clonmel Athletic Club.
