Tipperary boxer Shauna O'Keeffe gets her professional career up and running

Shauna O'Keeffe launched her professional career with a victory

Shauna O’Keeffe made her professional boxing debut a winning one in London last Friday night.

The Clonmel woman beat Lithuania’s Vaida Masiokaite at York Hall in Bethnal Green with a 59-55 verdict.

She was understandably delighted to have made the best possible start to her professional career against a very experienced opponent.

She stated afterwards, “I feel really good. We expected it to be a tough one. She’s a very durable opponent.

“But I went out and did what I could. It’s my first fight, I’ll learn more from that than somebody just coming in for a walkover.

“I enjoyed it, I’m glad I got the six twos in for my first fight as well. I’m happy.

“People expected a warrior – and I think I was a warrior. She was tough, and I gave as good as I got,” said the Clonmel fighter, who’s known as the Irish Hammer.
