Get along to Borris Ileigh this evening or support across the weekend
The Tipperary Gaelic Games community is once again asking people to come together this coming Friday as Borris-Ileigh GAA have organised a fundraiser challenge game between the Tipperary and Cork senior camogie teams in aid of young Paddy Duffy. Borris-Ileigh boy Paddy (6) was diagnosed with medulloblastoma shortly before Christmas. In order for him to get the best treatment possible he has now travelled to Manchester for Proton assessment and to begin his journey to recovery. His Mam and Dad are with him to help him along the way.
Paddy’s family - the O’Brien and Harkins families - have given endless hours in the support of sports and community events in Borrisoleigh. It's the turn of the Camogie/GAA/Borrisoleigh and communities further afield to show their support of them. A weekend of events will be held in Borrisoleigh over the February bank holiday weekend.
It will be the "Paddy Duffy Weekend". It is hoped to raise sufficient funds to ease the burden of the cost of travel for Paddy's family and to keep the bills paid at home whilst they spend their time getting Paddy better. A Go Fund Me page has been set up which can be accessed here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/paddy-duffys-cancer-recovery?utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&utm_content=facebook_cta_variant&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook
All amounts no matter how small will go towards supporting the O’Brien and Duffy family. Any unused funds will be donated to to the various services that have helped Paddy and his family. Most recently, the Cork camogie team accepted the call to help out by playing a charity game to help young Paddy, with other activities planned over the course of the weekend.
Firstly, the challenge game will take place on Friday evening in Borris-Ileigh GAA with €10 the admission fee for supporters. Then, on Sunday, the club will have a Track Attack 5km walk/run which will be followed by refreshments and that will be quickly followed by an U7 Tournament which will take place on the new astro pitch followed by fun activities for children.
Finally, on Sunday night from 8 pm there will be music in Finn’s Bar where there will be a trad session followed by Silver Dollar with friends. On the night the following jerseys will be auctioned: Dillon Quirke jerseys x 2 (×1 Tipperary/x1 Limerick);
Munster jersey signed by the team; a Tipperary camogie jersey signed by the Munster final winning team. They will also have a Kilkenny and Tipperary jersey from the Amanda Stapleton Fundraiser signed by the teams that played that night to go with it.
It promises to be a fantastic weekend in Borris-Ileigh in aid of Paddy Duffy. There is a gofund.me page set up for Paddy on gofundme.ie - here is the link once more - https://www.gofundme.com/f/paddy-duffys-cancer-recovery?utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&utm_content=facebook_cta_variant&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook
