A Marie Keating mobile information unit will visit Carrick-on-Suir Library on April 12
The Marie Keating Foundation will visit Carrick-on-Suir with its mobile information unit in conjunction with the Sean Healy Memorial Library, Fairgreen, E32 X860 on Friday, April 12 from 10.30am – 3pm.
Members of the wider community are very welcome to visit the Mobile Information Unit.
This is a free service and the registered nurse on duty will be available to answer questions and provide written information on the main cancers, the three cancer screening programmes in Ireland as well as providing cancer prevention information.
There will be no screening offered on the day and no fundraising activity will be taking place.
Between 11am – 12pm there will be a talk in the Library entitled “Your Health Your Choice (The Pillars of Cancer Prevention)”.
This talk provides information on the seven pillars of cancer prevention .
Attendees will learn about what action they can take and simple choices they can make to reduce their chance of developing cancer by between 30 -50%.
Skin cancer is the most common cancer type in Ireland so this will be discussed.
Information will be provided on what changes in the skin to look out for.
