The GAA has confirmed that Johnny Murphy from Limerick will be the referee for the 2024 GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship Final on July 21st, between Clare and Cork, in what will be Johnny's first Senior Final.
Tipperary will also be represented on the day with Newcastle clubman Michael Kennedy one of the linesmen on the day along with Chris Mooney of Dublin, while Liam Gordon will be the standby referee.
Johnny is a member of the Ballylanders club and has also refereed the All-Ireland Minor Final in 2018, U20 All-Ireland Final in 2021, Leinster Hurling Final in 2021, and the All-Ireland Senior Club Final in 2023.
In this year’s Hurling Championship, Johnny has refereed Tipperary v Clare in the Munster Championship, two Leinster championship games between Wexford v Dublin and Dublin v Kilkenny, along with the All-Ireland Quarter Final involving Clare v Wexford.
In the Allianz League, he refereed Kilkenny v Cork, Galway v Dublin, Waterford v Kilkenny, and the Division 1 final between Clare v Kilkenny.
The Final will be Johnny’s 18th Liam MacCarthy game to referee since his first in 2018.
