A 24-Hour Hurlathon fundraiser hosted by Moneygall GAA club took place at the ball wall last weekend and proved to be a great success. The 2024 All Ireland minor camogie and hurling winners Caithlyn Treacy, Eoghan Doughan and Paddy McCormack were all onhand and they got proceedings underway at midday on Saturday.

A club statement says that the event was a great success: !Every hurling and camogie team did their stint at the wall, as well as former players, committee members and other guests, all the way right through to noon on Sunday.

"As the Hurlathon was heading for a finish on Sunday morning our Little All Stars group were also busy taking part in an enjoyable hurling blitz on the main pitch.

"The smooth running of the Hurlathon would not have been possible without the help of many people. A special thanks to everyone who contributed to the event, including the camogie club, our club coaches and committee members, the parents of our juvenile players, all the card sellers and bucket collectors, and of course all the players who took to the wall with their hurley over the weekend.

"Our organising committee deserve special mention for the huge work they put in in recent weeks. A huge thanks especially to everybody at home and abroad who contributed to the fundraiser, whether for our ticket raffle, bucket collection or online. The funds raised will go towards our new clubhouse development project, with a portion of the proceedings also being donated to the Dillon Quirke Foundation."
