Dylan McLaughlin and Sharon Cantwell fly the flag for Moyne Athletic Club at the Séan Lowry 5k

Dylan McLaughlin and Sharon Cantwell made their way to Birr on Friday evening to take part in the the 8th and final round of the Healthy Offaly 5k road race series. 

It was an absolutely perfect evening for road racing after a showery day the skies opened up to an awesome August evening. 

354 athletes made their way to the line. The whistle was blown at 7:30 and the athletes made their way uphill to start the race. It was a very interesting course with some testing rolling hills throughout. The race finished with a great downhill for the last 700m. 

Dylan McLaughlin was the first Moyne A.C. athlete across the line finishing in 13th position overall with a time of 17.07. This was a 20 second season best and Dylan’s fastest time over 5k in over four years since his return to athletics. 

Sharon Cantwell finished 43rd overall, 6th female and 2nd in her age category with a great run to finish in 18.53. Two great results from the Tipperary athletes Dylan and Sharon, well done to both.
