Tipperary's Shane Long to feature alongside other celebrities for Hurling for Cancer Research 2024

GAA stars Ryan Taylor, Peter Duggan, Ian Galvin and David Fitzgerald from All-Ireland winning Clare team along with Paudie Clifford, Tom Morrisey, TJ Reid, and many more will line out in the game

Shane Long will pick up his hurley on Monday.

This year Tipperary legend Shane Long is set to participate in the annual Hurling for Cancer Research which will be broadcast on TG4 to a free-to-air audience this year to maximise coverage of this unique hurling match.

The hopes with raising the profile is that it will help boost donations to the Irish Cancer Society’s vital research projects.

Tipperary folk are sure to make the trek to see how Shane Long plays and some will wonder will he yet line out for Gortnahoe Glengoole in the Tipperary hurling championship! 

The Gortnahoe Glengoole GAA player had a fine career across channel at a number of English soccer clubs including Reading and Southampton and now he will line out for Jim Bolger and Davy Russellin the annual Hurling for Cancer Research which takes place in Netwatch Cullen Park in Carlow on Monday August 12.

An array of stars from the world of racing, GAA and top sports personalities such as Rachael Blackmore will be there with Wexford and Kilkenny legends Liam Griffin and Brian Cody acting as Bainisteoirí. Throw-in is at 7pm.

For the first time,  To date, Hurling for Cancer Research has raised an incredible €1.5m for cancer research. The panels are posted below.
