The depth of support in the community for South Tipperary Hospice was demonstrated at a sell-out fundraising concert at Hotel Minella.
The Movies and Musical concert was a huge success as the people of south Tipperary came out in force to show their appreciation of the invaluable work being carried out by the South Tipperary Hospice team.

PHENOMENAL
“The support as usual for the Hospice was just phenomenal. All involved in the Hospice are very thankful to the hundreds of people who attended to make this a very special night,” said Sean O’Donovan, Chairman of South Tipperary Hospice
Members of the Clonmel Concert Band provided a big sound on the night in the Minella ballroom with special guests Andrea Ruth , Sinead O’Donovan and Emmet Donlan singing all the hits.MC on the night was Lyric FM’s Niall Carroll.

The Hospice chairman said the desire of so many people to provide their support was shown on the night.
“This support is invaluable as the Hospice team endeavour to be there to support patients and their families dealing with cancer, and do everything we can for them in every practical way” said the Hospice chairman.

He paid tribute to the Hospice nurses for the work they do for patients and thanked the Hospice board members, the concert organising committee and the Clonmel Hospice Support Group.

“As a team we are determined to maintain the services that are there at the moment, enhance those ser vices by giving people the service they need and deserve so that we can make a small difference at a very difficult moment in their lives,” said Sean O’Donovan.

One of the areas the Hospice team are looking at building on the services is in the area of earlier intervention in serious illness.

SERIOUS ILLNESS
“We are exploring ways of how the Hospice can intervene earlier than the palliative stage when families are met with serious illness,” he added.
Danny Carroll, conductor of the Clonmel Concert Band said every member of the band was only too delighted to show their support for the Hospice given the work they do for so many.

“We are appreciative of the opportunity to show people what we can do but more importantly everyone is happy to do what they can to support South Tipperary Hospice. It was a lovely occasion and we received a very warm response on the night,”said Danny Carroll.
