A Cahir-based business, Galtee Honey Farm, will represent Tipperary at this year’s National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Co. Offaly (16–18 September), as part of the Local Enterprise Village – a showcase for 30 of Ireland’s top small businesses.

Supported by Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Tipperary, Galtee Honey Farm produces award-winning raw Irish honey and beeswax products using native Irish honeybees. With over 200 colonies and a heritage dating back to 1970, the business offers fully traceable honey alongside handmade candles and natural skincare.

The Local Enterprise Village, organised by the LEOs and supported by Enterprise Ireland, attracts nearly 300,000 visitors annually. This year, the Village is further enhanced by a new partnership with Google, who will host on-site talks and demonstrations focused on digital tools and AI for business growth.

Minister of State Niamh Smyth T.D. welcomed the collaboration, highlighting the role of AI and digital innovation in transforming small business operations. Google Ireland’s Managing Director, Cera Ward, echoed this, emphasising the importance of digital skills for rural entrepreneurship.

Anthony Fitzgerald, Head of Enterprise at LEO Tipperary, called the event a “unique opportunity” for local businesses to gain national exposure and expert support.

Galtee Honey Farm owner, Aoife Mac Giolla Coda, said she is “honoured to showcase our products and connect with customers new and old.”
